Welcome to our website dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of the Mount Pleasant Indian Industrial Boarding School in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. The information on this site is to honor the experiences of the Native American children who were sent to this institution by uncovering and telling the full truth of what occurred there. Through education, remembrance, and advocacy, we aim to support healing and reconciliation while ensuring that the legacy of this school is never forgotten. We are committed to fostering awareness, promoting dialogue, and upholding the voices of Indigenous communities affected by this history.
The Mount Pleasant Indian Industrial Boarding School Committee is actively working to preserve the site’s history and restore select buildings. These spaces will be repurposed to house the Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO) and a museum dedicated to the Indigenous history of the area, creating a place for research, education, and community healing.
