1934-2008: The property was transferred by the federal government to the State of Michigan and became the Mount Pleasant Branch of the Michigan Home and Training School. The Michigan Home and Training School closed in 2008 due to budget shortfalls and a decline in the number of individuals utilizing the facility.
2011: The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe acquired 8.86 acres of the property, including six historic school buildings and the Mission Creek Cemetery, through a land conveyance from the State of Michigan for $1.
National Register of Historic Places: The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018, which allows for consideration in planning federal projects, eligibility for tax benefits, and federal assistance for historic preservation grants.
