Marcella Hadden is a proud member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan and serves as the Tribe’s Tribal Historic Preservation Officer (THPO).  In this role, she is responsible for protecting ancestral lands and cultural resources.  Her office is located at the Ziibiwing Center of Anishanabe Culture & Lifeways, the Tribe’s premier cultural and educational museum.

With more than 27 years of dedicated service to her Tribe, Marcella has contributed to numerous departments and initiatives, always centering community, cultural preservation, and collaborative leadership. She also serves as the Chairperson of the Mt. Pleasant Indian Industrial Boarding School (MIIBS) Committee, where she leads efforts to honor, protect, and educate the public about the history and impact of the former federal boarding school.

Marcella holds an Associate Degree in Business from Northern Michigan University, bringing a strong foundation in administration, management, and organizational leadership to her work.

In addition to her professional responsibilities, Marcella is a committed artist with a passion for photography and visual storytelling. She is the owner of Niibing Giizis (Summer Moon) Photography Studio, based in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Her work captures the beauty of community, culture, and everyday life, and reflects her deep connection to the land and people she serves.

Marcella continues to use her talents and leadership to uplift the Saginaw Chippewa community, preserve its history, and inspire future generations.
